Early last year, I was absolutely devastated to discover that MB’s Old Dark Fired was no longer available in the States – it was my absolute favorite tobacco blend and I rarely bothered to smoke anything else.
But later that year, after desperate research to find a substitute, I eventually found my way to this blend here. I’ve tried quite a few tobacco blends suggested by others to fill the void left behind by ODF, but out of all the tobacco I’ve tried, this is the only one that I sat down with to smoke that had me grinning with delight and exhaling sighs of relief and nostalgia after the first few puffs.
It is a wonderful tribute to ODF.
Now as I continued to smoke through my first bag, I did begin to distinguish the subtle differences between their flavors, so it’s not an exact reproduction, but it is definitely the closest alternative out there and a great blend in its own right.
My only comment is I do think it would benefit from a flake cut, but regardless it is a great choice for those that appreciate dark fired blends or who miss MB’s ODF.
